Popular with brands like H&M, Uniqlo, Nike, Adidas, and Walmart due to low-cost production, Bangladesh is considered to have one of the largest garment industries in the world.
While big corporations enjoy the benefits of cheap labor and low pricing, the same cannot be said for the workers who keep it running. Low pay, poor working conditions, child labor, along with multiple violations of fundamental human rights still plague the industry, despite the many attempts at accountability after the 2013 collapse of Rana Plaza - the deadliest garment-factory disaster in history, which resulted in the deaths of 1,134 people and the injuries of ~2,500.
